I’m Chanel Cain, The 19th’s audience engagement fellow. I previously served as global content and programming coordinator for the Black-owned streaming service kweliTV before making the leap back into the newsroom.
At The 19th, I have the privilege of learning from and working with the audience team to connect our readers to the high-quality journalism we create. Whether on Instagram, Threads, Twitter/X or LinkedIn, we make sure to break down any barriers to bring you the news you need. I believe everyone has a story to tell and I’m thrilled to make sure underrepresented voices get the chance to reach the people that need to hear them most.
I’m an alumna of Howard University (H-U, you know!) where I covered culture, politics and campus events for the Hilltop, Truth Be Told magazine and the Seattle Medium. I’m born and raised in the greater Seattle area, where I currently live with my fiancé and rescue chihuahua.
My work is free to consume and free to republish because of contributions from readers like you. A donation of $19 goes a long way toward sustaining our nonprofit newsroom.
