Caring for children, older and disabled loved ones can be an overwhelming and unpaid job that many people – primarily women – take on in addition to full-time work. Strengthening the safety net for these groups has been punted by policymakers for decades. From investment in care infrastructure to paid family and caregiver leave, changes are needed to help people with disabilities, older adults, children and their caregivers survive and thrive in this country.
On December 5 in New York City, The 19th is bringing together leaders in the caregiving space to make visible this important invisible labor and discuss what can happen at the community, local and federal levels to uplift and support family caregivers and those they care for.
This conversation featuring Sara Luterman, The 19th’s disability and aging reporter; Ai-Jen Poo, executive director of Caring Across Generations and the National Domestic Workers Alliance; Reshma Saujani, founder and CEO of Moms First kicks off at 6 p.m. After the program, guests are invited to keep the conversation going over refreshments.

- Where: 1120 6th Ave, New York, NY 10036
