Senior Program Coordinator for Fellowships

I’m Michelle Rivera, senior program coordinator for our fellowship program at The 19th. I oversee day-to-day operations, track trends in journalism, and analyze data to help shape an inclusive, impactful fellowship experience. My goal is to support emerging journalists who are changing the face of media.

Before joining The 19th, I worked in global development and social impact, including expanding the mental health journalism fellowship and supporting labor research at the UN’s International Labour Organization. I’ve also worked with youth in NYC’s foster care system and conducted research in Colombia and Jordan about peacebuilding and conflict resolution. I hold an MBA from Emory and a Master’s in Global Affairs from New York University.

I’m a Spanish speaker with Colombian roots, and I live in New Mexico with my husband and our Jack Russell, Rocco.

My work is free to consume and free to republish because of contributions from readers like you. A donation of $19 goes a long way toward sustaining our nonprofit newsroom.
