The 2020 Republican National Convention began on Monday. The four-day event will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, with limited capacity and will also be live streamed. Because of COVID-19, in-person attendance will be limited to six delegates from each state and territory and a limited group of reporters.

“While the Democratic National Convention demonstrated the radicalism of today’s Democratic Party, President Trump is committed to celebrating America,” said Lara Trump, a senior advisor from the president’s 2020 campaign and the president’s daughter-in-law. “Democrats don’t showcase America. They criticize it, and that type of rhetoric is corrosive to Americans’ patriotism and national pride.”

The week’s lineup includes members of President Trump’s family, including First Lady Melania Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, Lara Trump and Ivanka Trump. In addition to more than a dozen politicians and prominent party leaders, other speakers include the St. Louis couple who brandished guns at protestor, a high school student maligned in the media for his interaction with a Native American man last year and the father of a student killed in the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
